We all know the iPhone and iPod touch can play 640 by 480-pixel video at 30fps. I had also read that the devices supported 480i. But apparently it will play up to 720x576 video at 25fps. The same resolution as a PAL DVD. This is great news for those of us with the component video cables on an HDTV. I normally encode my videos at the default of 480x320 in Videora and they look great on my HDTV. So I can't wait to try encoding something at 720x576 for external playback. Let me know if any of you try this.
